Hiya Tim,

If I may be so bold as to suggest something;

The accompanying transcriptions would be even more complete if you included slurs where you did the hammer-ons & pull offs. I am able to hear where these occur, but it would save time when reading from the transcription (sans recording). If you wanted to take it one step further, notate the pick direction and finger (where you use the hybrid picking). I think this would really help answer a sleuth of questions in one fell swoop. Plus, it would really help to connect the dots (be they the black dots :-) and the proverbial dots alike.

What prompted this post was going through the side-stepping 4 vid & transcription. I wish the transcription included the slurs & the picking! I can well put the slurs in places that I would like to, but one of my personal objectives (on this site) is to refine my technique. So, I want to emulate your exact articulations in these examples . Indeed, learning by ear is grand, but doing it in tandem with the notation would also be cooler!

Thanks

If you’re using Sibelius or Finale it’s easy enough to do. I end up doing it watching the vids, but man…it’s lots of play/rewind, play/rewind to see if I’m catching it right.

Thanks

If you read a lot of interviews with the “greats” you will find that many of them came to their particular approach by trying to emulate somebody but not quite knowing exactly how that person was doing what they were doing-so they had to chart their own course. I encourage you to learn from Tim, but set your own course as well-I’m speaking to myself as well Smile

I wasn’t sure how to attach the transcription, so I uploaded to a third party site. Revisions/corrections appreciated. If someone wants to open and attach in some other format, or directly to a post have at it. Cheers Cool

Hi schmitt,
Thanks for posting this. I was not able to open the file on the link for some reason. Perhaps someone here could give it a try?
Best,
Tim
